Tate's Second Birthday

We are backing up a little because I wanted to post pictures of Tate's second birthday...

Tate had a Very Hungry Caterpillar birthday party this year. He loves the book, and it was fun to put together the activities for our special little guy. We had just moved so the house was not in much order, but noone seemed to mind the boxes in the corners. Oh, and one other small thing, we had no heat...in January. Luckily, it was a warmer day so it seemed fine, but being as cold-natured as I am, I, of course, was freezing. But it was still a fun celebration of our little Tay-tay. We love you, Tate! You are our adorable, silly, curly headed, tender guy.

What we will remember about your second year:
1. Your "rotating hand"...when we lay down with you, we know to be ready for your rotating hand...stroking an arm, a cheek, a face. It is soooooo sweet.
2. Your wild wild blonde hair which we finally cut for your second birthday. Daddy and I joke that God knew you would be the middle child and gave you something extra unique. Literally everywhere we go, people comment on (and touch) your hair. You get alot of attention because of it.
3. Middle child you are not. You can hold your own with your brother and you know just how to get his goat. Watching you take his Jack, calmly wait until he notices, and then run like the wind is quite funny. Speaking of Ellis, you two are quite inseparable.
4. How much little girls love you...maybe this is a sign for things to come?? Little girls love you... toddler girls, elementary school girls and up, you are a loved little guy. And you eat it up.
5. You think you are very funny and comment often about how silly and funny you are.
6. Your deep and tender love for GloryEvelyn. I love this about you. You are constantly petting her, hugging her, and talking to her in your squeaky voice.
7. Your expressiveness. Your brown eyes have so much soul and depth in them. You can tell the whole story with your little beautiful face. You are such a special part of our family, and you are so so loved!

Party favors: the kids matched their names to the other half of their butterflies...according to my nephew Braden, this is not really a party favor (oops!) thus making our party a "small celebration"...seven year old translation: no party favors = small celebration, cool party favors = real party, HA!! :)

Singing "Happy Birthday"...Tate didn't blow out his own candle this year but he didn't seem to mind. Ahhh, big brothers. :)

What a cute theme for a birthday party. I went to one other "Very Hungry Caterpillar" party. She had all the foods he ate through for the kids lunch. My kids loved it b/c it is random but fun food... I like how you had the activities set up. I bet the kids had fun with that! :)
